It started with an 8 year old boy by the name of Casidy Sterner, and his father Ewell Sterner who volunteered at the local food bank and rescue mission in San Diego, California. Casidy asked “how can this be? What can we do to help more?” From there Hunger at Home was born, Ewell Sterner was then the Area Director of Food and Beverage for Hilton Hotels and he found an amazing group of people to come together and share the passion of ‘people helping people’. Together the team created Hunger at Home, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and enlisted 26 Hilton Hotels as Donation Partners and 2 local charities (San Diego Food Bank and Network for a Healthy California) as the first Charity Partners.
Ewell recently took up shop as the general manager for convention center services at Team San Jose, and brought his vision to San Jose. Their most recent gala raised over $1M for the effort.
